My art: When I was a kid, I would stare at a color and hold my breath for so long the color seemed to change. I also found by staring at the color and quickly and dramatically changing my mood the color seemed to change again.
For over 25 years I have experimented with this concept of attempting to change a perceived color by introducing it into different states of mind.
I pursue this by flinging paint from a "color wand" which is a tool of my own invention. When the paint leaves the wand it mixes the color and creates a form both of limited predictability. I call this FOLP (figure of limited predictability). No two folps can ever be the same.
Over the years, the folp has been mixed with various word suggestions, sound, music, video, and color chart studies. All to create different states of mind within a series of paintings to change a perceived color.
I spend endless hours in pursuit of a combination of color and state of mind to create some type of magical color.
